Ok, we all thought he was perfect, but JK Rowling’s boy wizard is due for a makeover. Award-winning illustrator Jim Kay has begun work on a fully-illustrated edition of the  Harry Potter books.

The first in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will magically appear in September 2015. Subsequent titles will release annually, re-creating the original pub schedule, which started in London in 1997.

Illustrator Kay is reimagining Harry for a new generation of readers. Kay, said “the commission of a lifetime” brought “an explosion of delight, followed instantly by an implosion of brain-freezing terror”. To date, holy Hogwarts….Harry Potter novels have sold 450 million copies worldwide.
