Controversy’s boiling in the book world, this time between author and publisher. ‘The Anarchist Cookbook’ is the original “how to” of homicide and mass murder. William Powell wrote the book as a 19-year old opponent of the Vietnam War. Now he’s insisting his book should go immediately out of print….but, he has no say in the matter. The rights belong to the publisher.
The book has sold more than two million copies since 1971, and influenced hundreds of malcontents and killers, including the TWA hijackers in ‘76; Timothy McVeigh; Columbine shooters, even the Boston Marathon bombers.
“You know, we don’t ban books in America,” says Billy Blann, Delta Press founder who bought the rights in 2002. And what about Amazon and Barnes & Noble who sell the book? No comment.
