I am a PG Wodehouse fan,…this news will either delight or disgust you. Author Sebastian Faulks has just published the first authorized Wodehouse sequel. Wodehouse, widely regarded as one of the most gifted English language stylists, wrote nearly 100 books before his death in 1975.
“Jeeves and the Wedding Bells” has been controversial from the moment the project was announced. Angry Wodehouse fans have accused Faulks of literary heresy. As you might expect, the novel is getting mixed reviews. The Washington Post gave it a thumbs down. But The Guardian lauded it as “a joyful tribute” that will enhance appreciation of Wodehouse’s genius.
