Unbelievably,. year’s end is drawing near, and those popular Best Of lists are starting to surface.

Chosen from nearly 9,000 reviews, Publisher’s Weekly is out with their Best Books of 2013, including: “Sea of Hooks” by Lindsay Hill; Lawrence Wright‘s “Going Clear, Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief;”  “Dirty Wars” by Jeremy Scahill; Jesmyn Ward‘s “Men We Reaped;” “The People in Trees” by Hanya Yanagihara, “Lost Girls” by Robert Kolker; “Miss Anne in Harlem, The White Women of the Black Renaissance” by Carla Kaplan; “The Silence and the Roar” by Nihade Sirees and James McBrides “The Good Lord Bird.”
