The PEN American Center, the largest branch of the world’s leading literary and human rights organization, has announced the winners of their 2013 PEN Literary Awards. Get ready to jot these down for your reading list.

Katherine Boo won for Nonfiction for her much celebrated Behind the Beautiful Forevers. Tom Reiss won for his The Black Count, the book that also took the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Biography. And here’s a great story …Sergio De La Pava won for his A Naked Singularity, a novel originally self published, and later picked up by the University of Chicago Press. Aspiring authors….take heart.
