CHILDRENS BOOKS

How much do we really know about famous children’s authors?

Childhood authors hold a special place in our hearts. We idolize them, but know almost nothing about them. Here are some little known fun facts:

L. Frank Baum, of Wizard of Oz fame, wrote his first book about….raising a fancy breed of poultry. “I’ll get you my chickens, and your little dog, too.” R.L. Stine, of the mega-popular Goosebumps series, started out as a joke writer. Lucky for us, his humor got scary. And, all us girls know Carolyn Keene is the author of Nancy Drew. But Carolyn Keene is a pseudonym for the many authors who’ve worked on the series. Hmmm…we never detected that one.
